Genetics and Male Infertility

چکیده
Male are the sole cause of infertility in approximately 20% of infertile couples and are an important contributing factor in another 20-40% of couples with reproductive failure. Male infertility can result from a variety of causes. Some, like ductal obstruction and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, can be accurately defined and effectively treated. Genetic abnormalities can cause infertility by interfering with sperm production or transport. Genetic conditions have implications that extend beyond their association with azoospermia and severe oligospermia because they may have consequences for the offspring of affected couples. In this article we have discussed various aspects of genetics and male infertility.

Association the study of between CGA rs6631A>T gene polymorphism with the risk of male infertility
Introduction: The CGA gene encodes alpha subunit of glycoprotein hormones that are involved in the fertility process. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between glycoprotein hormones, alpha polypeptide (CGA) rs6631A> T gene polymorphism with the risk of men with azoospermia or severe oligozoospermia. Methods: This study was conducted in a case-control study on 200 bloo...
متن کاملAssessment of Correlation between Androgen Receptor CAG Repeat Length and Infertility in Infertile Men Living in Khuzestan, Iran
Background The androgen receptor (AR) gene contains a polymorphic trinucleotide repeat that encodes a polyglutamine tract in its N-terminal transactivation domain (NTAD). We aimed to find a correlation between the length of this polymorphic tract and azoospermia or oligozoospermia in infertile men living in Khuzestan, Iran. MaterialsAndMethods In this case-control study during two years till 20...
متن کاملGenetic etiology of Asthenozoospermia: A review
Background: Asthenozoospermia, as the most prevalent cause of male infertility, is defined as low percentage of progressively motile spermatozoa per ejaculate. It occurs in both non-syndromic and syndromic forms and later it manifests as a part of primary ciliary dyskinesia. In the last decade, with the advent of Next-generation sequencing technologies numerous genes have been introduced in the...

OBJECTIVE To illustrate the necessity for an enhanced understanding of the genetic basis of male factor infertility, to present a comprehensive synopsis of these genetic elements, and to review techniques being utilized to produce new insights in fertility research. BACKGROUND Male factor infertility is a complex disorder that affects a large sector of the population; however, many of its eti...
